Fixed

Some IA member users have pointed out that when using the Responsible Investment filter, the Industry Report is outputting different data to that presented in the Press Release report.

We tracked down two separate issues and we’re happy to announce that these have now been fixed as of today.

What’s New:

  1. Filter definition now aligned with Press Release:
We've amended "Responsible Investment" filter logic in the Industry Report to bring it in line with the definition used by the Press Release Report. The update now captures funds that report any of the following characteristics:

    • Fund-specific exclusions

    • Sustainability-themed strategies

    • Impact investing

    • Sustainability Focus - Best-in-class or positive tilt strategies

    • Other sustainability-focused approaches

And will not capture funds that only report either of the following:

    • Fund Specific Stewardship

    • Fund Specific ESG integration

  2. Data Join Enhancement:
Temporal joins in the Industry Report have been updated to use the fund dynamic data’s As At Date instead of Period Start (the upload date). This change improves the timeliness and precision of the data presented.

These updates help ensure you're seeing the most relevant and up-to-date insights into funds’ responsible investment characteristics, whether you’re using the Press Release Report, or the Industry Report.

New

This is an IA admin only feature. For non-admins, please refer to the Upload History for a use-friendly breakdown of status logs and error messages.

When opening up the Upload Status dialog from the Industry Report Dashboard, tooltips will open up when you hover over the collection and reconciliation statuses, showing you the datasource and reconciliation log without having to navigate to the corresponding datasource and reconciliation history pages.

This will help IA admins quickly investigate upload issues and speed up resolution of member queries.

New

We have added a new functionality that matches what was in the past available on EchoWeb. This outputs the Industry-wide data in a flat file format, with two options:

FUM and Sales raw data example:

Sales by channel example:

Please note that only data from Jan 2010 onwards is available, and only a maximum of 10 years’ worth of data can be exported at a time.

Currently, this new feature is available to admins only, but we will shortly open up access to all IA members. In the meantime, please feel free to get in touch with the IA at fundanalyser@theia.org should you need a copy of the raw data.

Improved

Due to some of our IA members’ data practices, there are sometimes blank rows left as artefacts in the monthly FUM / Transactions upload files. This has in the past caused issues in data validation when checking for the reporting period of the data, throwing the error message: “Unable to determine single period for file”.

We have now added handling to ignore blank rows which allows such files to pass the reporting period validation.

New

Following our work to add page size options to reconciliation output dialogs, we have extended the feature to Upload History as well as Industry Report Dashboard.

For example:

There are 5 display options for the page size: 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 rows per page. We hope this, combined with the filtering options at the top, will make it easier to investigate data issues than before.

New

We have added sustainability data and active/passive fund data in the Press Release reports - the first set of which is scheduled to be released by the IA this week.

For sustainability data, you’ll be able to see FUM and Sales data for SDR labelled funds as well as funds with sustainability characteristics.

For now, only “Focus”-label has adequate adoption for reporting.
